Kaziun Paperweights for Sale

Charles Kaziun Jr. was one of the most famous of the American paperweight artists.  He is often credited with contributing to the rebirth of interest in paperweight making.  He made paperweights from the 1940s until his death in 1992.  His weights are usually signed with a gold K or a special millefiori cane containing a K.

You can read about him in many books, including:

Charles Kaziun III is the son of Charles Kaziun, Jr.  He also produced paperweights for about 10 years starting in 1992.    His work resembles that of his father, but he tended to make larger paperweights and had his own style.  He used a silver K for his signature.  They are also very collectible and not easy to find.

1424 Large Charles Kaziun Jr. Yellow Rose Perfume Bottle. circa 1960-1980.  Large bottle with large yellow crimp rose and leaves in the stopper.  The stopper is signed under the leaves with a complex cane consisting of a blue K surrounded by a ring of heart canes.  The bottle itself is from Pairpoint glass and has the controlled bubble pattern typical of Pairpoint.

This is a rare item by Charles Kaziun. It has a history.  I purchased this from an elderly lady who was not a collector.  She worked for a doctor who knew Charles Kaziun personally and who collected Kaziun paperweights.  The lady said she picked out the bottle at Pairpoint and asked Charles Kaziun to make a stopper for it.  Kaziun often used Pairpoint bottles for his larger objects.  This style of bottle can be seen in other examples of Kaziun crimp rose perfume bottles, so the combination is not unusual.

Size: 5 2/3" tall including the stopper.  The bottle itself is 3" in diameter by 3 1/8" tall.  The stopper is 3 1/3” tall by just over 1 3/4" in diameter.
Signature:  The stopper is signed under the leaves with a complex cane consisting of a blue K surrounded by a ring of heart canes.
Condition: Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Execution:  Excellent execution with the exception that the opening in the bottle is slightly off center.  Kaziun must have enlarged the original bottle opening to fit his stopper and did so off center.  That is the only flaw.
