| 2616 | Early Orient & Flume Art Nouveau Style Paperweight with possible
GES signature cane. circa 1974. This is a wonderful example
of an early Orient & Flume art nouveau style paperweight. It
has an iridescent surface decorated with an art nouveau style floral design
consisting of three blue flowers against an ivory background. It
is signed on the bottom "Orient & Flume 245 M 74".
There is also what appears to be a signature cane in the center of the bottom "GES". The use of this cane is previously undocumented, so it is possible that this is a fluke rather than a deliberate inclusion of a signature cane. Orient & Flume was started in 1972 in Chico, California by Douglas Boyd and David Hopper. It studio took its name from its initial location which was at the corner of Orient & Flume. Their early weights adopted a style that has become known as the California style of iridescent paperweights with surface torchworked art nouveau motifs on the outside surface of the weight. Later work involved interior lampworked designs. Size: Just under 2 7/8" diameter by 1 3/4"" high.

| 2890 | Rick Ayotte House Sparrows Limited Edition Paperweight. circa
1982. This paperweight features a pair of house sparrows on two branches.
The birds are very three dimensional as they blend with the foliage.
The ground is white. This is an early paperweight by Rick Ayotte.

This paperweight comes with an insert from Rick that provides background information on the House Sparrow. As is typical of some of Rick's early weights, this paperweight has a relatively flat profile. The low profile allows Rick to fill the weight with details and avoid optical distortion, but it also made it difficult eliminate all the glare from the lights when taking pictures. Roland "Rick" Ayotte specializes in paperweights with themes from nature, including lampworked bird and other animals, flowers, fruits, and berries. His paperweights range in size from miniatures to super magnums. He also produces other wonderful glass art objects. He lives and works in Nashua, New Hampshire and has been making glass paperweights since 1978. Size: 2 3/4" diameter by 1 7/8" high.

Correia Art Glass Chanukah Paperweight. This paperweight
has a blue Star of David, Menorah, and Hebrew Chai symbol (meaning "living"
or "for life"). Each symbol appears three times on the paperweight.
The background has a matte finish. The paperweight is made by applying
an overlay of blue glass to a crystal paperweight and then removing the
space between each figure to create the raised symbols. The weight
is signed on the bottom "Correia" and "WE8293 2-00-7".

"Correia" and "WE8293 2-00-7" on the bottom. Correia registers each
paperweight and I believe the number 8293 is a style and the 2-00-7 is
a series number rather than the year.

| 2806 | Magnum Daniel Salazar Lundberg Studios Ruffle Edge Pansy Paperweight
with LS90 Signature Cane. circa 1990. This is a fantastic
ruffle edge six petal pansy paperweight by Daniel Salazar of Lundberg Studios.
It features three pansy-like flowers with leaves and stems over a transparent
burgundy ground. It is double signed Daniel Salazar Lundberg Studios
and also has a LS90 signature cane.
Pansies have only five petals and this flower has six petals. This paperweight is similar to a ruffle edge five petal pansy made in the early 1980s by Lundberg Studios, so I assume Salazar took artstic license with this one. If someone has the correct name for this variety, I will be grateful. Daniel Salazar is one of the lead gaffers at Lundberg Studios in Davenport, California and is their primary paperweight designer and maker. He joined Lundberg in 1975. The studio was founded by James Lundberg in the early 1970s. Steven Lundberg joined shortly later. The first paperweights were made in 1972. In 1973 the firm was renamed Lundberg Studios and moved to Davenport, California. James died in an accident in 1991. Steven left Lundberg Studios in 1997 and set up his own studio. He died from ALS in 2008. Each paperweight produced at Lundberg Studios is signed and dated by the studio and signed by the artist. Please ignore the white areas in the picture caused by the light. Very Large Size: 3 1/8" diameter by just under 2 7/16"
high.

| 1953 | Early Bob Banford Red Clematis with Buds Paperweight. circa
1973 - 1977. This paperweight has a transparent red clematis with
yellow stamens and 3 buds plus leaves and a stem. The buds are in
different states of maturity, from a small bud just starting to the largest
partially open. The floral arrangement floats above an opaque white
ground. Bob's traditional "B" signature cane appears next to the
stem. This is a very desirable example of Bob's early work.
This was a hard paperweight to photograph because of the white ground. Rest assured that the glass is clear and the ground is white. Bob Banford works in Hammonton, NJ. He started making paperweights in 1971 along with his father, Ray Banford. He continued to make paperweights until 2009. Bob did not date his weights, but this weight is consistent with his early period. Size: 2 1/3" diameter by 1 7/8" high. The bottom
is flat.

| 2576 | Very Early Charles Lotton King Tut Paperweight. circa
1972. Abstract surface decorated paperweight with Charles Lotton's
early King Tut design. This is signed "Lotton 1972" in script on
the bottom and has the unfinished pontil mark typical of Lotton's work.
An outstanding example of Lotton's early work with his wonderful iridescent
blue and silver colors.
Charles Lotton began experimenting with paperweight and vase production in a backyard shed in late 1970 in Lynwood, Illinois. At the time he was a successful hair stylist, salon owner, and a collector of glass. From the beginning, he was determined not to reproduce styles made previously. He developed his own formulas for creating glass colors and pioneered the technique of surface decoration. In 1971 he developed the King Tut design shown here. His paperweights are not finished on the bottom and show a rough pontil mark near the script signature. In 1973 he sold his beauty salon and has since worked full time in glass production. Size: 2 5/8" diameter by 2" high. Circa 1972.
The bottom is unfinished with a white pontil scar. It has a script
signature "Lotton 1972".
